A Poem from Trisha

THE BROKEN CHAIN

I  LITTLE KNEW THAT MORNING THAT
GOD WAS GOING TO CALL YOUR NAME
IN LIFE I LOVED YOU DEARLY,
 IN DEATH I DO THE SAME.

IT BROKE MY HEART TO LOSE YOU,
YOU DID NOT GO ALONE;
FOR PART OF ME WENT WITH YOU,
THE DAY GOD CALLED YOU HOME.

YOU LEFT ME PEACEFUL MEMORIES,
YOUR LOVE IS STILL MY GUIDE;
THOUGH I CANNOT SEE YOU,
YOU ARE ALWAYS AT MY SIDE.

OUR CHAIN IS BROKEN
AND NOTHING SEEMS THE SAME;
BUT AS GOD CALLS US ONE BY ONE,
THE CHAIN WILL LINK AGAIN.

Comments: Wyatt, its nearly two weeks since you went home to Heaven. Not a day goes by when you aren't thought of down here - it is an amazing tribute to someone so young to have touched the lives of so many in such a positive way - your parents miss you terribly but, like you, they are strong...we will all gather again someday, Wyatt, and watch you ride your horse - this time on street of gold - until then, sweetie, we know you will be busy teaching the other precious people there how to ride!!!

Comments: My memories touch further back in the family tree as I remember the Cushing family gatherings at the Margaret & Bud Booke home. The gatherings were fun family times and I expect those were some of the beginning traditions of your family gatherings also. Our lives are intertwined even though our daily times are distanced. Wyatt blessed your lives in ways that only children can. Kelly and Sandy, please know that our sympathies are with you and pray for comfort for you.

Comments: Dear Kelly and Sandy, Terry and I were in Denver when my son, Terry, called and told us about Wyatt. We just got home today (Sunday)and I read your tribute to Wyatt and looked at all the wonderful pictures of him. I am so sorry I was not able to be here for his memorial service. He was such a great person and I feel so blessed to say that I knew him and could share part of his life. I will never forget that smile of his and all the stories he would tell me. He was always willing to lend a hand when asked, no matter what the task, and do it cheerfully. He will always have a special place in my heart as one of "my kids" that I will never forget. Bless you and your family and please know that our thoughts and prayers will be with you now and in the days ahead. God bless. Terry and Lois Mortenson

Comments: Where oh where to begin Wyatt? So many memories. One that sticks out the most would have to be when you came over to our house when we were adding on to it. It was really dark out and getting late. Your dad came to pick you up, but no way you didnt want to go; you,my brother,and me were all having way too much fun outside. We all had this bright idea to run and hide behind this huge dirt pile we had. When we were running to hide you and I started tripping over rocks, so we grabbed hands and took off trying to catch up to Derek who was already in hiding. We just started to crack up because Derek was already there and we were tripping and barely able to stay on our feet. I remember you saying "Man we are never going to catch up to him now" But we finally made it there we didnt trip once after we grabbed hands. My mom talked to your dad for about 5 minutes while we were all laughing up a storm behind the dirt pile. Then your dad starting calling you and we decided to be nice and finally g

Comments: I remember the day I met Wyatt, a 6 year old first grader, at Garden Valley School. Not one bit shy, wearing tall cowboy boots, he met me with a great big smile and an extra big "Howdy". Well, right then I knew I was a goner for his cowboy charm. Wyatt was the most personable student Ive ever known. We had many good conversations over the eight years I knew him. Although school wasnt always where Wyatt wanted to be, he never failed to greet me with his bright "Howdy". I enjoyed watching him grow into the mature, handsome young man he had become. How do you say goodbye to someone like that?

Seeing you last August so grown up and the apple of your parents eyes was awesome. I appreciate a teenager who doesnt seem to be embarassed or bored to eat supper with old grown up adult relatives from out of town. Also liked your sense of humor. Comments: Dave and Colette have wonderful memories of Wyatt. When Wyatt was at Colettes daycare he always showed up with a huge smile. There was never a day that went by that Wyatt didnt have something up his sleeve. He would always strutt into the house and say "Colette, I need to go out and pick rock." (And there he went and came back with a bucket full of rocks). Then say, "Just like out in the fields!" He loved to play in the dirt. Colette would always find a new hole dug in the yard and it wasnt from the dogs! Wyatt was quite the charmer, singing Country/Western songs to Colette. Dave and Colette had a lot in common with Wyatt, such as hunting and horses, which they visited quite often about. He always had to call and tell Colette everything that went on from day to day. Like keeping in contact about school, breaking horses, what belt he achieved in Tae Kwon Doe, he would go on and on about everything. Colette is sure going to miss those unexpected phone calls, That she loved to receive from Wyatt. He was just like a son they never had, but borrowed instead. The time we had with Wyatt will always be a memory that we will always cherish. We Love You "Cowboy"! Our deepest sympathy go out to Kelly and Sandy during this hard time on the loss of a great son. The most of my memories with Wyatt was that he was the joy and the light of all our family. The get togethers we had centered around him keeping us all entertained. He would eather find something for us to do or he would bring something that would light up all the childrens hearts. Horses to ride, a sleigh, four wheelers. He was who we waited for to show up. We will miss his unending smile and the light he brought to a room. We love you Wyatt and will never forget that smile. Auntie Elaine and Uncle Kelvin

Comments: Hi Sweetheart I just went and visited you. I will miss your smiling face so much. It is wonderful to see all the people who are sending you flowers and to know all the lives you have touched in your short time here. I think God must have had a special "Wyatt Job" that only you could do and he knew that you could now watch over all of us. You always wanted to take care of everyone and now you can. We will miss your beaming smile so much and I want to thank you for always taking care of all those little girlcousins. Your zest for life should be an inspiration to us all. You will be with us always and we will miss you terribly. Now you can go fishing with Grandpa Roger and Gramma Margaret will take care of her Grandson. Save a place for us, and well see you some day again. Love Aunt Geri

Comments: Hello my nephew, I cant believe you are not here. When Kacie and I plan our yearly visits I have to say you are the first thing that comes to mind, and we wonder what you have in store for us. I secretly hoped it would be something safe, Kacie knew whatever it was would be exciting. I miss your smile and energy. I love the way you never faded into the background. You wanted to know people and them to know you, once you knew them you wanted to help and entertain them. I also admire the variety of special people in your life from babies to the elderly what was on the inside was what you were looking at. Wyatt I miss you so much right now as all the other grandkids are sleeping here and there in grandmas house, its not the same without you. I know you are ok, probably watching me thinking Im slow. Its us who will hurt from missing you. I love you Wyatt and Im glad you shared a part of our lives. Sad without you aunt julie

Comments: I remember watching Wyatt and my sister many times. Those two were the best of friends. I remember one time holding Wyatt and rubbing my fingers over his and my sisters face, gently rubbing over their eyes trying to get them to sleep while singing softly. I remember another time when they were playing and Wyatt came out of the room wearing Shays tights under one of his shirts with a play weapon in hand-- he looked just like Robin Hood-- he couldnt of been more than 3 years old I think-- it was the cutest thing. The memory I will hold closest in my mind is when I seen him last, fencing with all the guys on Saturday. My jaw dropped when I seen what a man he was developing into. I couldnt believe it. He was so muscular and sure of himself. I said Wyatt-- Oh my gosh I havent seen you forever and he replied with this cocky little attitude and in the deepest tone -- hey- and flashed that heartbreaking smile!!! I thought on the drive into town what amazing work ethic

Comments: Wyatt was always happy and having a good time in whatever he was doing. He always had a smile on his face and was just alot of fun to be around. One memory that really sticks out in my mind is at Team Penning when he was training his horse. He ran that horse everywhere! and had so much fun doing it. Also, the look on his face when he won, he just really had a good time being around animals. He had a huge heart! We love you buddy and you will be missed, and never forgotten.

Comments: I remember when Wyatt came to stay with us in Wolf Point. He was about 6 years old, which would have made us 11 and 8. We rode horse and played with the chickens...he always made everything interesting and fun and he was never bored or let anyone else be bored. He made sure everyone was always taken care of and offering his services. Throughout our childhood, on our trips to Williston, we would go out to Wyatts and ride snowmobile or go for wagon rides and always had a good time. And holidays at Grandma and Grandpas he would never let us get bored either and was always ready for a game of pool or foosball. We will always remember our awesome cousin Wyatt and the fun times we shared together. Love Mike and Renee

Comments: For Wyatt, my Special Grandson, my helper and my loving friend.

I was there when you were born and I was with you when you went away. You were one of the most important parts of my life and I will love you always.

When you were little and asked if you could stay with me; the answer was always yes of course. We would talk over life through the eyes of small boy and your dreams of the future. What plans you had! Some of your plans had come true as the young man you had become and we both waited for more in the future.

What joy you gave me when I would answer the phone and hear your voice, "Hi grandma, what are you doing? You have any projects you want done?" or "Grandma, how do you make chokecherry syrup? I just picked a bucket full of berries." I think you wanted to make syrup with me and we would do just that. However, the next time you would ask me if I wanted some apples from your trees, I definitely told you how many as the first time I wound up with a pickup full! I still have some of those in my deepfreeze.

I look around my home and I can see all the things we did together. I so appreciated your use of tools and figuring out where part B goes; "Oh Grandma, you do it like this;" all the time with confidence and that special smile.

I could write a book with memories and they will always be in my heart my special special boy. I do not know why God would take such joy away from me but I do know He had his reasons and some day I will see that smile you had especially for Grandma.

Love, Grandma

Comments: Hey Wy boy, Things sure are gonna be different around here.We cant help but look down the field, hoping youll come runnin on ol Bullet or tearin on over on your 4wheeler.Dad n I have been talkin bout the good ol days, you know when wed play dress up and go for picnics(you and those ketchup sandwiches!you were bound and determined to make your own!)or the times youd tinker with bobbie around the yard, you know doin "boy stuff" then there was the times wed build forts, in the hay,in the woodpile, and our last one, upstairs in "our" shed, you and I would look out those windows and just relax and make jokes, so proud of our new fort. And when it would come time to go home, sometimes wed had so much fun, youd ask,"Just one more night Bobbie? Can I stay just one more night Krissy?", not wanting the fun to end.Well now its me wantin "Just one more night,Wy?"Its gonna be hard for us you know riding without you showin off on bullet, trying to get me to race with be Without you trying to get me to race with benny. I think we were pretty neck and neck,it just depended on the day who won.It didnt matter anyways, we were both so stubborn,I always thought benny won, and You just knew bullet did. I hope you know that no matter what, youll always be the son and brother we never had, our little Wy boy. And youll always be ridin with us, no matter when or where we go. We miss you like crazy little buddy! Dont forget all the great memories weve had over the years, cause we know we never will! See ya around Wy boy. Love ya little buddy, Bobbie and Krissy

Comments: My favorite memory of wyatt was when he performed in the district 8 talent show at Garden Valley. He was probably in second grade. He had told our music teacher marilyn ackerson that he would be sharing with us a piece called "Old McDonald" and play along on a tiny guitar. He started off with a sour strum from the guitar and said "dang" then tryed again... same thing then he said "shoot" He proceeded with the best rendition of Old McDonald that i had ever heard.. At least he had a GREAT singing voice... Miss ya bud

They loved and trusted you and never feared you. I woke up this morning and drove to the highest hill on the farm and watched the sun come up. I felt you with me. Weve always agreed that the morning is the best part of the day.
